It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the State of Uttarakhand – India. It lies in the middle of high mountains and is renowned for its wide wetlands with several range of rare and exotic flora and different flora species.

 

Trekkers, botanists, photographers, foreign tourists and adventurers alike are highly sought after in Valley of the Flowers. Pilgrims also come to Hemkund Sahib, worship and pilgrimage place for Sikhs. The Gurudwara of Hemkund, devoted to the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, is India’s highest 4329 meter Gurudwara.

 

What is Valley Flowers Trek’s Best Time?

 

The best time for the Valley of Flowers trek is from July to the beginning of September. The maximum number of flowers can be viewed in this period. The temperature will be between 7 and 28 degrees Celsius during these months. It’s also possible to trek in June, but rain is likely. A June for a monsoon walk and glaciers is good, although this month’s temperature is a lot cooler due to rainfall.

 

What’s the difficulty with Valley of Flowers?

 

Valley flowers trek is not an easy one, and can be performed by first-time hikers or beginners. The flowers’ valley trek is well defined and the path is paved. The hike is steep in many places, but the difficulty is not high, and an individual with average fitness can complete the hike easily. For the elderly, a pony can be hired to reduce the difficulty of the walk.

The Flowers Valley trek is 38 km away. Depending on the fitness of the trekker, this distance can be covered in 3 or 4 days. Every day, depending on how far you want to cover each day, you will be walking about 6 – 8 hours.

The Flowers valley is located in the state of India, close to Joshimath. You need to get to Joshimath, 30 km before Badrinath, and go to Govind Ghat.

 

From Haridwar or Dehradun, most visitors have access to Uttarakhand. Both are well-connected to major cities such as Mumbai and Delhi by road and rail. 

 

How to get to Delhi’s Flowers Valley?

 

On board the Mumbai LTT-Shatabdi Express Indian Rails, visitors will be entitled to book tickets to the Dehraduna or Delhi area. The train stations are located in Dehradun. Regular buses for Dehradun are available from Delhi. Jolly Grant in Dehradun is the closest airport.

 

How to get to Dehradun or Haridwar Flowers Valley?

 

Onboard Mumbai LTT-Haridwar, or Shatabdi Express of Indian Railways, visitors may book tickets. You can take a private cab, a shared taxi or a bus to Joshimath to the flowers valley when you reach Haridwar or Dehradun.

 

It takes 9 hours to get to Joshimath from Dehradun or Haridwar. From Joshimath to Govind Ghat, many shared cabins and taxis are available. Some visitors prefer to stop in Rishikesh and visit Joshimath the following day. Only 20 kilometers from Rishikesh to Haridwar.

How do you get to Govind Ghat’s Flowers Valley?

 

The path leads from the village of Govind Ghat (1.828 m) on the western bank of the Alaknanda river, to both the Flowers valley and the Hemkund Sahib. Govind Ghat is a cluster of buildings with hotels, tea shops and stalls that sell shoe, ponchos and transportation equipment.

 

You can choose how to reach the flowers valley at Govind Ghat via Trek, Mules or Porters.

 

In particular, visitors to Hemkund Sahib can hire mules and porters. You can hire porters known as Kandi Wallahs, who wear bamboo baskets with straps over their foreheads and ropes. In the sackcloths, kandi wallahs may take bags, valets, bags and the elderly.
